browser freezes while searching 20% of time

Bug Description

Ubuntu 9.04 with Firefox updated to latest version now intermittently freezes during search and has to close down with hard reboot to "start new session" or "restore previous session"

Thanks for reporting the bug. When you say it freezes, are you referring to Firefox only, or to the whole system? Can you please provide a test case?

All screen activity stops part way through a search. It is unique to
searching from Firefox 3.5. I have to close down by turning off power to
the computer. Reboot is always possible without difficulty, but the
problem may then occur episodically.

Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox-3.5 -ProfileManager

affects: firefox (Ubuntu) → firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu)
