Bug Description

Binary package hint: grub2

I installed Kubuntu Karmic Alpha 4 without problem. Grub works normally and I can boot into Kubuntu. I can also boot into Windows XP. But after rebooting from Windows the grub menu fails to load and just a blinking cursor appears on screen. This is quite reproducable and a Jaunty install does not have the same problem.

Same here on a Compaq 6715b after installing karmic 20090829.2 daily build.
Can't load grub after a cold restart.
Workaround : reinstall karmic from the liveCD then reboot without shuting down (I guess grub is still in some memory part then, but is lost after a shutdown)

Edit : this is not a cold restart/reboot problem. After rebooting from XP, grub2 won't load.
