Installing a second monitor, display not mirrored, logout to set virtual desktop. Desktop blank after logout although still accessible.

Installed 19" Samsung on IBM laptop (R50e). Tried to set it up as a non-mirrored display with res 1440 x 900. Blank screen on logout. Edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and changed the virual res. - Screen no longer blank on reboot but resolution not correct.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
