Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I use a custom xmodmap to switch my Meta and Alt keys on my apple aluminum keyboard, and when I load my .xmodmap file with the new keybindings, compiz will not recognize those changes unless compiz restarts. In ubuntu, the only way I can seem to get compiz to restart is by going to Appearance prefs, then effects, then select none, and back to custom.

At the very least, it would be nice to have a cli command to allow me to either restart compiz or (even better) tell compiz to re-load my xmodmap settings. Here's my xmodmap file in case it helps:

clear mod1
clear mod4
keycode 64 = Super_L
keycode 133 = Alt_L
keycode 134 = Alt_R
keycode 108 = Super_R
add mod1 = Alt_L
!add mod1 = Alt_R
add mod4 = Super_L
!add mod4 = Super_R
