Bug Description

Binary package hint: ghostscript

I have been a victim of bugs 308817/409962. There is a fix which has been pushed out to basically everybody, but KPackageKit still shows absolutely no updates for me. It lists 16 blocked updates, none of which have anything to do with Cups or libpoppler. This is _most_ infuriating as I need to be able to print.

roland@logikaldesktop:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10
roland@logikaldesktop:~$

I have not noticed any errors when applying updates in the past, so have no idea what is hosed in KPackageKit and/or what I need to do to fix it.

How do you come to the idea that problems in packagge updating are caused by Ghostscript?

affects: ghostscript (Ubuntu) → update-manager (Ubuntu)

I didn't. The screen I entered the text on didn't have any selection what-so-ever for package hint at the time I did the entry. I simply entered the text and submitted. I assumed since I had KPackage in the summary it knew what I was talking about. Then again, lack of the hint prompt could simply be yet another of the seemingly endless bugs in Arora.

I and most others had to abandon the instability of Ubuntu for OpenSuSE
long ago.

And there, in all its glory, is the reason every company and person is
abandoning Ubuntu. That is the exact response people get to 99.999456%
of all bug reports. Let it sit for 6 months and punt.

Fine fine bunch of developers.
