Upgrading from Ubuntu 5.10 via gksudo (proxy issue?)

Bug Description

after make :

gksudo "update-manager -d"

it is stacked downloadin 2 files, but nothing download. after a while it do nothing an return to the initial windows alerting that there is an upgrade.

this is what i got on the terminal window:

i think it could be something with my proxy.

i always got problems with it.

Do you use a proxy? If so, how is it configured? Is it set in synaptic? Or via the http_proxy environment variable? Or via gnome?

yes

If so, how is it configured?

the server? i don't know! i only know its ip and the port

Is it set in synaptic?

yes, in fact it work downloading software

Or via the http_proxy environment variable? Or via gnome?

via gnome "net proxy" (don't know exactly i am translating)

yes! now it works, even when i didn't upgrade yet, it recognize the new
version. i go till it shows me some "notification" (like some kind licence)
of the new dapper, but didn't clic on upgrade cuz it will download too many
bytes.

so i will left it downloading today night, so i will confirm you tomorrow.
but before the update, it didn't go so far. so, if i would say something, i
would say that is working.
