Some fixes are needed for Totem.

Have you done the fix of changing the name of the logo file of Totem?
Because Totem crashes at star users are changing the name of the logo file to extention .old so that Totem doesn't start with it or change the resolution of the image (lower) for Totem not to crash at starting.

The problem is that if you do so Totem crashes at conetion speed.

One "workaround" goes to another :-(

Reinstall totem-xine...
So it crashes at the begining! But everything else works. You can open files in nautilus calling totem.
Meanwille, I hope too, the first bug will be propelly fixed, and the second one will exist no more.

(sory the poor english)
Keep the good work.

I've uploaded to my personal homepage a new upstream version of totem (1.4.3). This should fix the issue, also the logo one. Please test them :-)

Daniel has packaged the new version for dapper-updates, it just takes some testing time before being uploaded, you can wait for that update too rather than using an unofficial package

Excuse me, I didn't mention the mail before. If the
new version is going to be packaged officially, I'm
going to leave this alone.

Thank you for your reply,

Gert

Not fixed yet according to bug 57821 - can anybody confirm this is still broken? Can we get a debug backtrace? At least libc6-dbg, libglib2.0-0-dbg, libxine1-dbg (and probably a debug build of totem) required for that.

Crashing for me in dapper. I will try and get a backtrace - I have the following with libc6-dbg and libglib2.0-0-dbg. By libxine1-dbg do you mean a debug version of libxine-main1?

I will try and put together a debug version of that and of totem today.

The totem version that crashes here is 1.4.3 (using libxine 1.1.1).

It appears not to crash if a file isn't open in totem. I can get a crash everytime if an mp3 is open, not tested with other files.

The crash (with an mp3 playing) didn't happen with me... using libxine-main1 1.1.1+ubuntu2-7.2 and totem 1.4.3-0ubuntu1
