Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth

I am on a completely updated Karmic.

I have the cell phone mentioned in the subject and I have paired it successfully using gnome-bluetooth. I click on the Bluetooth icon in the tray and choose "HTC_P3650" and in the submenu "Browse files ...". Then a Nautilus window pops ub with the directory of the cell phone's file system. I can navigate through the subdirectories, but I cannot open a file (I tried with a JPG picture which I have shot with the phone). eog opens and says "Could not load image 'IMAG0004.jpg'. Error in stream protocol: End of stream." In addition, the Nautilus window does not show thumbnails of the pictures.

Till,

Do you still experience the problem? (Are you using lucid now?)
Could you test again ? and once obexd 0.22 has land, could you test another time (or you can use my ppa to have it.)

Thanks

I have tested again with

till@till:~/ubuntu/ghostscript/tmp/ghostscript-8.71.dfsg.1$ dpkg -l | grep obex
ii libopenobex1 1.5-2build1 OBEX protocol library
ii obex-data-server 0.4.5-1 D-Bus service for OBEX client and server side functionality
ii obexd-client 0.22-0ubuntu1 D-Bus OBEX client
till@till:~/ubuntu/ghostscript/tmp/ghostscript-8.71.dfsg.1$

and still the same problems as I described initially.

Please tell me which logs you need.

Sorry for the late answer, I have switched to another cell phone now.

In /var log/syslog I get:

May 7 11:05:03 till obex-data-server: sdp_extract_seqtype: Unexpected end of packet
May 7 11:05:04 till bluetoothd[5784]: link_key_request (sba=0C:60:76:86:59:ED, dba=00:17:83:88:09:03)

Are there other log files to look into?

I'm going to take a risk here and gamble that you don't want a bug report for every type of phone that a bluetooth problem exists for.
If I am wrong, please let me know, and i'll create my own bug report.

I have a samsung phone. Samsung SGH-L700.

Sending files, either way (computer to phone, or phone to computer) works fine.
As soon as I try to browse the device, there is a problem.

When I choose this option in Ubuntu, my phone asks "Permit to get your file?"

I choose 'Yes'.

Invariably, I will see (on my ubuntu screen) a new window flash and disappear so quick I am still not even sure that is what it is. My phone's bluetooth symbol returns from red to blue, and the process is aborted.

Sometimes, when I am really lucky, Ubuntu gets to see the root contents of the phone.
If I then try to dig deeper, by double clicking on a child folder, it will hang for a few seconds, and then the nautilus frame will disappear, and again, the whole process will be halted.

Not sure what I can give you to help for this.....
Please give me any advice ... what I can provide to help.

regards,

sean

svaens, I have the same problem. Using a Samsung SGH-X700N. I'm not sure if I have solved it before, if I have, I forgot the solution. :-( System is Ubuntu Lucid. Installed obexftp.

Anyone?

When I was investigating this, it seems like the issue was rather in gvfs than in the bluetooth/obex components. Basically, the device does get seen as a gvfs filesystem via obex://(mac), but then gvfs and nautilus don't sucessfully manage to speak to each other via dbus. Reassigning to gvfs for lack of a better idea :)
