Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub2
When installing Ubuntu karmic alpha3 on a system that already has another Operating Systems, such as windows XP/Vista, it does not detect them after initial installation.
I've tested this on two machines and with two different iso's. Before installing I have to say that I already had a dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows. I installed karmic replacing the old installation (By manually editing partition table).
After installing, and rebooting, grub only had the Ubuntu Karmic entry and there was no Windows entry. To add the Windows entry I had to issue a "sudo update-grub". After that, the Windows entries were added.
The first installation was with then Ubuntu karmic i386 alpha 3 Desktop iso. This machine had Windows XP already installed.
The second installation was using the Ubuntu karmic amd64 alpha 3 alternate iso, This machine had Windows Vista already installed.
