Bug Description

Dapper has problems with the sl-modem-daemon presently in multiverse. The sl-modem-source when installed with synaptic or via make states that it is not compatable with kernel. If downloading slmodem-2.9.11-20051101.tar.gz and compiling and then installing the sl-modem daemon in dapper multiverse with Synaptic, the modem works perfectly, but after a reboot does not work. it was determined that the symlink is disappearing/dev/modem to /dev/ttySL0. The /dev/ttySL) as wel as /dev/pts/0 to 4 shows while working, but is gone after a reboot. and a complete reinstall corrects this, untill another reboot an gone again. I have checked the properties of the sl-modem daemon and source files on the multiverse and they both show (dapper) next to the version. The actual version numbers seem suspiciously similar to the Breezy files.
Regards
Andre

You are probably missing this hotplug script that is part of official package:
/etc/hotplug/usb/slusb

Get the script from official package and it should take care that appropriate device file is created.

Where do I find this and how do I install this exactly? Please advise and I will test and report back. The modem is an internal PCI type and not USB.
I see the problem is a bug as the kubuntu user will not get his/her modem to work by just installing from the repos?
Thanks

By the way the hotplug script is installed in /etc/hotplug/usb/slusb and the modem does work on a new installtion of the drivers, but not after a reboot

This seems to be fixed by Debian's version

Dave,
Thanks, it seems as if the sl-modem-daemon2.9.9.d+e-pre2-5 and the sl-modem_2.9.9d+e-pre2.orig.tar.gz together work on dapper. Now the only issue is to get these on to the dapper repos. Those on the repos are for breezy, although on dapper repo as well.

Latest files have been added to dapper repos by motu Stefan and they work. Use Synaptic to download and install
