Please backport all postgresql-8.4 packages from karmic to jaunty

Would save me a great deal of trouble of either compiling it myself, or running a beta OS

I also believe that PostgreSQL is very important for many Ubuntu users and should be updated. As Clusty already stated above running a beta OS or compiling the sources isn't exactly a solution.

Thirded; PostgreSQL 8.4 contains significant improvements for developer and DBA friendliness.

There already is a PPA by Martin Pitt that can be used with jaunty and hardy: https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+archive/postgresql
Martin Pitt is the original maintainer of the PostgreSQL packages in Ubuntu.

(Note that this PPA also includes other packages with you might not want; also PostgreSQL 8.4.1 has not yet been updated)
