Bug Description

I'm not sure if this should be listed under epiphany-browser, epiphany-extensions, or beagle. But using the current Dapper versions (just upgraded to Beagle 0.2.5, and using epiphany* 2.14.1) no epiphany browsing data is indexed for searching. Konqueror data is indexed currently.

I can confirm this too... the problem is that epiphany-browser is missing as a build-dependency. Brandon, could you please look into this?

Has there been any headway made on this? In the mean time, what steps would be required to change this?

This is still an issue as of beagle version 0.2.6-1ubuntu3.

It doesn't look like the extension is being bulit and I don't think it will be built by default. I got it to buld with these switches:

./configure --with-epiphany --enable-epiphany-extension --enable-epiphany-extension-install

and it appears to work.

digger - Did you use the beagle sources from Dapper for this?

Thanks for the tip!

No, I pulled the CVS for beagle and did it from there. I would expect
the source from dapper would also be fine.

These are the files that were installed.

beagle.xml
libbeagleextension.a
libbeagleextension.la
libbeagleextension.so

Here's a patch to the beagle source package to build a new package "beagle-epiphany-extension".

It's set to explicitly depend on Epiphany 2.14 (the version in Dapper) since the Epiphany version number is included in the path where the extension is installed. Someone with more packaging-fu may know a way to make this build against whatever version of Epiphany is installed.

I have associated a branch and linked to the upstream bug about the epiphany extension, I ask that we consider using the new extension, as the old one is VERY insecure and not very efficient (it spawns a new process on every page view and dumps the content to a pipe) The new one hasn't been tested much, and we can't expect to see it in edgy, but for edgy+1, it might be better to wait for the new extension.

Please note, the new extension isn't finished and still needs some UI work (like a statusbar notifcation) and some settings management window. Patches are accepted!
