Woops, forgot to build for karmic.... Same URL. Sources of the possible karmic release are in my ppa too.

Hi Winston. A couple of thoughts on your debian packaging.
You should probably add mplayer-nogui as an alternative to mplayer;
 mplayer (>= 1.0) | mplayer-nogui (>= 1.0)
Also, your patch is missing a final newline.
You could also install the .desktop file using dh_install instead of cp'ing it.
That was my first impression. I'm sure there are other things to pick on as well ;)
