Bug Description

I was trying to load the ndiswrapper kernel module after installing the drivers for my wireless card (wg311v3, driver found from this page: http://sites.google.com/site/subtlegems/netgear-wg311v3-ndis-driver-for-linux-amd64). The wireless driver appeared to install properly, but when running modprobe ndiswrapper, nothing happens and no wireless interface is added.
dmesg includes the following error message: "BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)". syslog doesn't contain any relevant messages.

I'm using Karmic Koala alpha 3 (with the packages on the CD), and installed ndiswrapper by downloading ndiswrapper-common and ndiswrapper-utils-1.9 from packages.ubuntu.com.

the packages I have installed are:
ndiswrapper-common_1.54-2ubuntu1_all
ndiswrapper-utils-1.9_1.54-2ubuntu1_amd64

ndiswrapper -v for some reason returns version 1.55

Loading the same windows wireless driver in Ubuntu 8.04 (also 64 bits) works fine, so the windows driver binary is probably not the culprit.

nevermind, the windows driver did get corrupted at some point, I replaced it and this particular problem is now gone (although a new one has appeared)

Changed in ndiswrapper (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
