Bug Description

Binary package hint: kopete

When Now Listening plugin is enabled and if I have amarok running. Kopete crashes. It not a crash actually, it just disappears. Disabling Now Listening plugin fixes the issue.

It started happening after update on July 30 with the following changelog

kdenetwork (4:4.2.98-0ubuntu2) karmic; urgency=low

  * Rebuild with new pkg-kde-tools to build translation templates

Its not like a crash it just disappears. But no backtrace and all. Even if I start from konsole all the logs it generate are normal ones. This is what logs I get if I start from konsole

Interesting. Could you try running it through gdb (https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Backtrace) after installing kdenetwork-dbg please? gdb is usually quite good at catching such crashes.

Facebook now supports chat via XMPP (aka Jabber), which is a native plugin to Kopete. Due to this change of circumstances kopete-facebook was recently removed from the archives in favor of the present solution. It is currently not planed to deploy further updates to the version used in Kubuntu karmic.
