Dear friends:

After about half an hour guessing, I posted a workaround here:

http://ajoliveira.com/ajoliveira/pt/software/enigmail.php

In fact enigmail changed 2 Thunderbird preferences, producing that very boring behavior...

Hope it helps others

Cheers

Antonio

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I don't like this.

If you ommit this sentence:

"There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates"

maybe i can accept it, this way it is not acceptable and it makes me remember something else...

either you know the ground where you move or you are quickly moving in a swamp. This is a serious bug, not important because almost nobody is using enigmail, and package devs should have at least briefly tested it. That is what keeps us buggers reporting bugs.

Antonio

Thank you for the reply. There are over 5000 bugs that have had no response and have been sitting around for a long time, this bug in particular well over a year. Would it be at all possible for you to try and test this in Ubuntu 10.10, as I have not been able to produce this. I installed thunderbird and enigmail and could read html messages. You can use a Live CD to save upgrading if you are on an earlier version.
Thank you again for getting back on this bug report.
