Bug Description

Binary package hint: cryptsetup

I just installed Karmic with the following partition layout:

/boot ext4 ~200mb on /dev/sda
lvm as crypted_lvm on /dev/sda
the lvm includes / with ext4 and swap, both encrypted

i didnt change anything, just a fresh install... the same happened after a kernel update from 2.6.28 to anything above - it just stops booting and i cant do anything...

I found the Problem... during installation i choosed the german language...
As i restarted the keyboard layout has been changed (dont know why).
My password included a "z" - when i change the occurance of every "z" to "y" it boots

Ok, seems like I misunderstood your last comment.

In other words, the reported bug is about the request for password, at startup, uses an english charset, no matter what you've chosen during the install?

Yes, I can confirm this problem. During the installation I choose Swedish language, used both during the installation and in the installed system. Yet during boot time I had to enter my cryptsetup password using some kind of English locale.

I have the similar problem. Fresh installation from ubuntu-9.10-alternate-i386.iso - Karmic Koala release. I chose Russian language and now passphrase does not fit. I have tried that twice.
