Bug Description

I installed the karmic alpha 3 yesterday and updated all packages this morning.

Then I started the KPackageKit in order to install some additional software: openjdk, eclipse, gnuplot, inkscape, latex, latex-beamer and jabref (list might not be complete).

After pressing the apply button the following error message popped up:

Error Type: Error Value: not enough arguments for format string File : /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/apt/aptBackend.py, line 1966, in main() File : /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/apt/aptBackend.py, line 1963, in main run(args, options.single) File : /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/apt/aptBackend.py, line 1925, in run backend.dispatcher(args) File : /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/packagekit/backend.py, line 632, in dispatcher self.dispatch_command(args[0], args[1:]) File : /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/packagekit/backend.py, line 507, in dispatch_command self.get_depends(filters, package_ids, recursive) File : /usr/share/PackageKit/helpers/apt/aptBackend.py, line 1272, in get_depends "Dependecies for $s cannot be satisfied: $s" $ e)

Then I closed the error message (KPackageKit was still running) and selected the latex packages only. This worked fine.

Edit: I could narrow it down. The error occurs when trying to install eclipse-3.4.1-0ubuntu2 (amd64).

This is not a KPackageKit error.
This is a bug in packagekit-backend-apt, you can try using packagekit-backend-aptcc or upgrade to 10.10 (which uses the aptcc backend).

Best.
