no sound 9.04 had sound then after restart none

My sound card never worked. only get sound when i reinstall 9.04 till the next time i shut down system no drums!

I have a simialr problem. I have had jaunty for about 3 months. Three days ago when I restarted my computer, I lost my audio. It just makes very weak noises! after couple of restarting it worked again (I don't remember exactly what did I do!!), yesterday I restarted my system again and I have lost the audio but I can not fix it anymore!! Please help me with this, I thick must have something to do with the updates of last week because it is fine before that.

I again solved it but not sure exactly how! I restarted several times but didn't work, then I open pulse volume manager and volume manager and muted/unmuted everything. Then I open mixers (pulseaudio,oss, alsa) and played with volumes. Finally, I noticed the sound is back without restarting. I noticed now I have pulseaudio sound mixer which was not there before. Maybe this new mixer is causing problem but I am not sure.
