please sync the latest version from debian as they have updated the
package to the latest upstream version.

Reproduction Steps:
Open a new install from apt
go to configure
change colors to yellow (assume it would work with any color)
Change a setting in general settings (I toggled option 7)
then go to Notify (Generally it locks up for me at this point, if not leave that menu and open two others either general(g) keys(k) or notify again(n))

once locked up the following occurs with my machine
