Bug Description

Eclipse have been crashing on me randomly for quite some time now(and tweaking eclipse.ini variables didn't help), but now it won't even start at all. Eclipse closes itself before leaving the splash screen.

The problem also happens the exact same way if I change the jvm to java-6-sun.
I've attached the error log(which repeats itself every time).

Here's the reader of the log:

Deleting my workspace made eclipse available again, but having this as only resort for the problem is terrible.

Hi larytet

As Benjamin wrote, we cannot support eclipse downloaded directly from eclipse.org.

Furthermore, eclipse has extracted shared libraries into your home folder (~/.eclipse), which means the crash will persist even after you install eclipse from Ubuntu (from 9.10 or 10.04, older Ubuntu versions may have a broken eclipse). Please rename/remove ~/.eclipse after installing eclipse from Ubuntu and before running it the first time.

Thank you in advance,
~Niels
