Bug Description

(Sorry if it's a dupe)

richard@richard-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux richard-laptop 2.6.31-4-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 24 18:05:56 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

64-bit Karmic alpha 3 with all updates applied, on my 2nd-gen MacBook. I have an external hard disk attached via USB. I select any file on that hard disk in nautilus and select "Delete". The computer gives me a dialog (screenshot attached). I select "Delete". The files stay where they are and can't be deleted from within the file browser.

So I opened a terminal and did sudo rm -r * on the external hard disk - no problems.

Thanks for the report, which type of filesystem do you have in the external hard disk? could you delete those with gvfs-rm ?

Hi,

Pedro, my external hard disk is formatted as ext4. I booted to a clonezilla live CD and used GParted to create a single ext4 partition on the whole disk. I then ran clonezilla to clone my whole internal hard disk and put the image onto the external hard disk.

I think nautilus' inability to delete the file in question is a permissions problem, but I don't know exactly what it is, and in any case nautilus doesn't give me any type of error. Please see the attached terminal log. "blah" and "fubar" are simple text files that I put there just to test. "mydirectory" was created by clonezilla.

right, the log indicates it's a permission issue and not a nautilus bug
