Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-games

Ubuntu 8.04, AisleRiot Solitaire 2.22.3.

When playing Angnes, it is impossible to win.

Whatever card is the rank to start the the foundation piles, the card of rank one less cannot move off of wherever it appears.

It will not play to the foundation until the entire suite is on the foundation.

It will not play to an empty Tableau pile.

The only place to play it is on a foundation starting rank card that is left on a tableau. When this is done, that card will not move to any other pile.

Is this the intent of the rules?

There is no card that will play to an empty tableau except the next deal?

This is not 'very hard to win'. It is practically impossible. If this is the intent, I can just never play this version again. But I wanted to check, because I have never seen another solitaire game that does not allow some card to play to empty slots.

It would not make it much easier, just possible.

Thanks.

I have seen versions where this is not possible, but they are rare. This is indeed extremely annoying and should be changed. Probably a wishlist item..

Summary of the issue: if the stack is empty, we should be able to put cards on it.

Thanks for reporting this to us. I have tried playing Agnes in AisleRiot and can't see what you mean. Creating a new pile at the bottom can only be done with the number that is on the Base Card, i.e. the number that starts the 4 decks at the top. I think this is the normal rules since it is the same as the game 'Patience' which is a card game the same as this but Aces start the 4 decks at the top, there are none to start apart from the same layout at the bottom, Kings being high with no wrap around. Sorry if that doesn't make sense.
If you could test it with the Live CD of the daily build of Maverick 10.10 that would be great, as I can't see any problem, perhaps I'm not looking a it correctly.
Thank you :)
