Bug Description

I own a Intel Create and Share Camera Pack (CS330).
When i plug in my CS330 the Import photo dialog pops up and asks me if i want to import pictures or ignore the camera... I select import and i get this error on the next screen:

"An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not lock the device'): Camera is already in use."

In fact the Import photo dialog pops up twice (once for internal storage and once for webcam mode)

This camera works in Breezy using Gtkam but if i try to use Gtkam in dapper with my CS330 it gives the same error.

I hope this helps.

Forgot to add this:
The CS330 uses the spca501 I believe.

Hi,

Do you still have this issue with the latest Edgy Beta? You can try the livecd, or let us know how it behaves with an up to date Dapper.

Thanks in advance.

Situation still hasn't changed... Same error occurs in a fully updated 6.06. Same error happens in 6.10. I have since bought a HP Photosmart M425 that works like a charm in Ubuntu... But the intel camera is my webcam which i would like to have working in Ubuntu.

Does this happen in Feisty?

I have since traded that camera for a dlink webcam that works (worked in 6.10) and no longer have access to it.
