maximized windows cover whole screen

Bug Description

When I run xcompmgr, and even after I have run it, maximized windows cover the whole screen, including any panels from gnome-panel. A workaround for this is to start xcompmgr before starting gnome-panel.

This doesn't happen for me. xcompmgr version 1.1.3~20060831-0ubuntu1 (edgy).
