Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I hit this when trying to test oem install using UNR Karmic alpha 3.
After the oem setup and rebooting, it dumped me to a text console with an error:
ERROR: The OEM installer failed. Your system may not be usable yet. Please
report this as a bug to your vendor.

and it left me a a shell prompt logged in as root. I was able to press alt-f9 and switch to the gui, this was one of the crash reports that was available and seemed to be related to the problem I was seeing. I did have to manually bring up networking though, as it had not automatically started yet.

Since this distribution was on a "Linux Format Magazine" DVD, the fixing of the bug is outside of my control as it was 'frozen' on a pre-made disk that came with the magazine. It does not say much for Ubuntu 10.04 when it keels over like this! Hugo Shepherd

Since this bug:

- Is from an unoficial built of Ubuntu.
- Is from a version that reached end of life.

it won't be fixed.
