Bug Description

Binary package hint: samba4

Installing samb4 prevents installation of samba and samba-related files (like smbfs) in Ubuntu 9.04. "mount -t cifs" does not work and apparently due to not being able to install smbfs. In the Fedora distribution it's possible to have both samba and samba4 installed at the same time. From the samba web site it seems that samba4 and samba should work together. It seems in 9.04 I can either install samba4 and use evolution-mapi OR I can install samba and mount Windows shares, but I cannot do both at the same time.

I think this is actually not a bug. I don't think all of samb4 is needed for evolution-mapi - just libldb-samba4-0 which can be installed along with samba. So I should be able to uninstall samba4 and just install samba, smbfs, etc. so that "mount -t cifs" will work.

Yes, evolution-mapi only depends on libldb-samba4-0, not the full samba4, so you should be able to run both.
Marking as invalid since OP says it's not a bug.

Changed in samba4 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

Installing only samba 3 seems to break libldb-samba4-0
