Bug Description

Binary package hint: alien-arena

1) Description: Ubuntu 9.04
                         Release: 9.04

2) alien-arena:
  Installed: 7.0-1
  Candidate: 7.0-1
  Versiontable:
 *** 7.0-1 0
        500 http://ftp.port80.se jaunty/multiverse Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I expected the game to run smoothly without CPU running skyhigh.

4. Well, as soon as I'm starting to play, the CPU goes skyhigh.

I'd like to know what's causing it & if it can be fixed.

Sounds more like hardware/driver issues instead of an alien arena bug. What graphics card and cpu do you have, and does this happen for other games? I think this is a pretty common occurrence for advanced graphics games, at least for me. There are several in-game options to decrease graphics if you really want to lower cpu usage.

My graphicscard is ATI Radeon R300 NE [Radeon 9500 Pro]
CPU is Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz

This does NO happen for other games.

But I don't want to DECREASE graphics to have the problem solved, I want the game to run normally.

It should say DOES NOT.
Sorry for the typo.

Hmmm, the copy in the repo is several versions old. I tried the new version which I had to recompile from source because I have an AMD64 processor. It seemed much worse to me, but that could have been my graphics card. You might as well give it a try anyway.

You might get better luck posing to the forum on alien arena's website.

Hello,
please install the libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio package, if does resolve your problem please set it as a duplicate of bug 454879.

Thanks
