Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

send email with special characters in attachment file name fails: "unable to open the temporary file"

This bug has been reported under the number #201655 and marked as resolved.

However, it is not resolved in Windows Vista32, Thunderbird Version 2.0.0.22 yet.

I tried to attach a picture with a special character in the file name (small i trema, means a i with two dots: ' ï '.
I got the very same error:
"unable to open the temporary file"
removing the special character in the file name worked, however in the era of Unicode, this should not be an issue anymore.

Thank you for the update. This is the Ubuntu bug tracker. Is the
problem you are having with Ubuntu or Windows? We do not support
Windows. Per this bug:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332110 this will be fixed
in Thunderbird 3.0.

Hi Folks

Thanks a lot for trying. I found #201655 by googling and added mine without noticing that your forum is for ubuntu only. I have this bug on Windows and after finding the official thunderbird bug list, I noticed, that this error is actually well known, however it won't be fixed until version 3.0

So sorry about bothering all of you. Ubuntu seams to have solved this issue.

thanks,
Philipp
