X crashes on start with intel driver

Bug Description

On X startup, gdm begins to load and then vertical lines in different shades of green and blue appear. The mouse and keyboard are not responsive. Here is a dump from a screen session running startx:

The last three lines appear as soon as it crashes.

I am also having the same problem.

Software: Gentoo Linux x86, kernel 2.6.30-gentoo-r3, xorg-server 1.6.2-r1, libdrm 2.4.12, xf86-video-intel 2.7.99.01.
Hardware: Packard Bell EasyNote BU45, Core 2 Duo T5200, Intel GMA950.

Please see http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting for directions on reporting X bugs. For crash bugs more data needs to be collected. Also, I notice you're running a PPA version of xorg-server that we don't support on Jaunty.

The bug you report sounds familiar but I think is one now solved in Karmic. However if you can reproduce the issue on karmic, feel free to reopen with the above required information and we can investigate.

Sorry for the bogus bug. I had forgotten about the xorg-edgers ppa. An update from single user mode fixed it. Thanks for your work!
