Bug Description

OpenShot version 0.9.3
ffmpeg = 3
Ubuntu 9.04 amd64

On selecting slower speed in clip properties, eg 1/2 speed, The clip is not automatically resized on the timeline.
It can be resized manually by either changing the clip end point in the properties or by dragging to resize on the timeline.
When the clip is then put back to normal speed, the clip resizes correctly automatically.

On selecting faster speeds eg x2, the clip is automatically resized on the timeline. But when this clip is then changed back to normal speed it has to be resized manually again.

ie; when slowing the speed down, the clip is not resized automatically. but is correctly resized if made faster.

Helen, this is actually behaving the way I designed it to. However, it might need to be changed. Do you think that a clip should always change it's length on the timeline when slowing down or speeding up? In other words, should I always ensure it starts and ends on the same frames it had before changing the speed?

Someone complained to me because when the slowed down a clip, it would grow on the timeline, and thus... cover up clips to the right. That's why I made it not grow... and only shrink. But now that I think about it, maybe it should always resize itself. What do you think?

Hello Jonathan,

The point about not covering up clips to the right is a valid point. I
think it should stay as it is.

Maybe if we wrote some good tooltips they could explain this to the user
so that they know to increase size manually.

I tried adding some tooltips on 0.8.2, but I had some problems with
Glade 3. If I opened some files such as the glade file for the exporting
window, and then saved them, I was losing the links to the attributes in
the corresponding python files, so the result was I couldn't set any
values in OpenShot. I left off trying to learn Glade so I could
concentrate on the Manual.

Helen, I will fix it to resize the clip if returning to normal speed or faster (since that shouldn't cover any clips up). All of the slower speed settings, I will enforce the existing IN and OUT settings, and not lengthen it.

I understand the problem to not covers up clips to the right but the user expects to see its sequence grows on timeline when slowed down otherwise it must again repeat its sequence cuts and adjustments...
may be the clips to the right on timeline must be shifted ?
