Bug Description
Binary package hint: gksu
I just upgraded my original 8.10 install to 9.04. Not much customization yet.
My existing panel entry for a root terminal fails to work, and when I use the command from that item, it fails on the command line. This is:
/usr/bin/gksu -u root /usr/bin/
It asks for the password, but the gksu program exits with status 1.
If I run it again, I see the message: "Failed to contact the GConf daemon; exiting." So the problem may be with the daemon, but I have no idea how to tell which is the culprit.
On the other hand, /bin/su works okay, as does sudo, but they are not suitable for X clients. I have a workaround with
ssh -X <whatever>
