Bug Description

Binary package hint: kexec-tools

When I load a kernel with kexec, my network interfaces are not detected... at all. If I remove /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net and reboot with kexec, nothing is added to the file. If I perform a normal reboot, everything works out fine.

I installed the linux kernel 2.6.30.1 and if I kexec FROM 2.6.30.1, everything works fine. If I kexec from the 9.04s kernel 2.6.28.9 INTO 2.6.30.1, it still doesn't work. So the problem must have something to do with the shutdown code or how kexec exits the current kernel.

I think the problem may be related to the one discussed in this post:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/nic-stops-working-with-current-huge-kernel-727860/page2.html

This would mean the problem is not kexec.

Seeing as this problem will be fixed in the kernel used in 9.10, I would suggest ignoring this bug.
