Bug Description

Binary package hint: flightgear

It would be perfect to have the package 'fgrun' 'FlightGear Launch Control', a graphical frontend to influence the selection of Airplane, Aircraft, Weather, et alii, in the final of Karmic Koala

Further information is available at: http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/FlightGear_Launch_Control

tarball: http://sourceforge.net/projects/fgrun/

On the Windows Version this is a standard.

Looking forward, best regard
 robin

edit: This wish-request may also backrefer to bug #311859 and bug #1. Beside all of the CLI-Paramters listed in http://wiki.flightgear.org/index.php/Command_Line_Parameters can be tackled within the GUI of 'fgrun' the 'Launch Control'

Since I know well that capacities are tight and priorities strict, I may well establish this wish request again for the next LTS, which might be more feasable.

Best regards again to all of you involved

robin

Hi Ritchie,

fgrun 1.5.1 is already avaiabe for Karmic 64/32bit via https://launchpad.net/~jacob/+archive/ppa

Hopefully it will be available in 10.04 LucidLynx via Package Managment.for average users?

So probably it just needs some testing? I personally have FGrun V 1.5.0 installed on Ubuntu 8.10 & am very pleased with it. (got it from France) Since I suffer from a "invisible Harddisk"-Bug currently, I can not test it myself.

Great news! I've been able to fly my home town easily again. Terrasync integration also worked fine. First time I use it from fgrun.

Thanks!

The fgrun will be packaged for Maverick? Without it, the only way to set the aircraft and track in FG is using command-line.

We really need this to be packaged. I've been trying to compile fgrun by myself and so far it's been a major pain.

I have packaged this for Debian, along with version 2.0.0 packages for FlightGear. At the moment due to bureaucracy they are sitting around in the mentors area. I no longer use Ubuntu so cant tell you if they work but they work find for me on Debian Sid.

If you are really desperate, you can get the packages (source only) from this site http://mentors.debian.net/cgi-bin/sponsor-pkglist?maintainer=cbaines8%40gmail.com . If you have trouble downloading or installing the packages, try asking on the Ubuntu forums for help.

Hello Chris,

this is a very good idea, to put his back to Debian, if nothing happens there; like lets say another year; to update even Flightgear to 2.0. It might be an idea using the build-service of OpenSuse:

https://build.opensuse.org/

Flightgear 2.0 is availble on Mandriva 2010.2+ others like openSuse too ... since a little while...

I'd like to nominate this package for Precise Pangolin, 12.04 !!!

So, after having open this bug nearly 2 years ago and a fix at Debian has been established - this didn't make it's way into Oneiric... Truly I am considering about rethinking my understanding of bug-reporting. This might go well 2gether wt the new version of flightgear. & I'm not a gamer...

Closing the bug as fgrun is now in precise.
Mind it's still pulling in the old simgear2.0 which will be fixed with the next upload (new version 1.6) in the next few days.

I Actually hear this with great delight! Thanks a lot. Looking forward to Precise Pangolin LTS (sounds a little bit like Precious)

Since FGrun has not been changed a lot recently I'm not sure if a small change with a big effect in FlightGear 2.4 has been taken into Account:
Version 2.4 installs into /usr/share/games/flightgear (especially Scenery)

Version 2.0 has installed into /usr/share/games/FlightGear

Another Point of interest is the missing icon. The Windows version uses the same as FlightGear itself, which was also missing in the last 2 Versions, due to a badly quoted directory. Since Unity it looks really sad if a icon is missing.

Probably I need to open a bugreport for this? I'll do testing anyway, when the Alpha1 is out, promised!
