Bug Description

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Thunderbird does not seem to create an outgoing e-mail with an attachment. I have tried this using an application (cheese, which has an option to mail photos) and directly on the command line as per console output below. I have verified that the image to be attached exists and is readable:

vik@kereru:~/Documents$ cheese
kfmclient(17653) ClientApp::doIt: Creating ClientApp
<unknown program name>(17655)/ ClientApp::doIt: Creating ClientApp
kioclient(17655) ClientApp::kde_open: KUrl("mailto:?subject=Media files&attachment=/home/vik/Pictures/Webcam/2009-07-14-120355.jpg")
vik@kereru:~/Documents$ thunderbird "mailto:?subject=Media files&attachment=/home/vik/Pictures/Webcam/2009-07-14-120355.jpg"
vik@kereru:~/Documents$ ls -l /home/vik/Pictures/Webcam/2009-07-14-120355.jpg
-rw-r--r-- 1 vik vik 45270 2009-07-14 12:03 /home/vik/Pictures/Webcam/2009-07-14-120355.jpg
vik@kereru:~/Documents$

In each case, a new e-mail window is created, but the attachment is missing.

Using up-to-date 32-bit x86 Ubuntu 9.04 and thunderbird 2.0.0.22+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.04.1 on a KDE4 desktop.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I have tested this, and it has been fixed on karmic (Ubuntu 9.10 with cheese 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 thunderbird 2.0.0.23+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu1)

Please test with these versions in the latest ubuntu release and if there is still an issue, please reopen this bug.

Thank you.
