Bug Description

Update manager will not recognize my password since today's mid-day updates. I can update/upgrade via the terminal where my password is validated. It is not an issue in Jaunty.

I can confirm this bug exists on my desktop computer as well, both running 2.6.31-2-generic.

actually its not just update-manager. you cannot do anything that requires escalated privileges like update-manager, plugging in a USB hard disk, or even shut down the computer.

affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) → gdm (Ubuntu)
