Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I'm sorry but I am unable to reproduce this so can only speculate as to the cause.

I have some files shared using Samba on the network which I tried to open using Nautilus. It launched OpenOffice, the splash screen came up but the progress bar for the splash screen never reached the end. My laptop just froze completely.

I tried to hit the power button a few times thinking X might have crashed but it didn't help at all. I would have tried to use another computer to SSH into the laptop to see what was happening, but I didn't know the IP address, and it could have been one of several IPs.

As I said I have been unable to reproduce this, however I strongly suspect it is Openoffice related because I've been using Jaunty on this laptop for many days now both before and after the incident and have experienced no issues. I hardly ever use OpenOffice as well, and this happened as soon as I launched it.

Hi Khusro,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 398566

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.
