Bug Description

I'm not sure if this is an issue of perforce GUI diff tool, or a general bug for QT apps.
But it really annoys me when I type "p4 diff file.txt" in gnome terminal and new GUI window appears behind the terminal.
I remember few ubuntu releases ago it was working properly (either on 8.04 or on 7.10)

PS. I'm using gnome terminal 2.26.0 on ubuntu 9.04
PS. p4 is a set of client tools for perforce (another CVS)

thanks in advance!

A 'paper cut' is a minor usability issue likely to be encountered by the average user their first day using a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10.

Since no QT apps are present in a fresh install of Ubuntu, and you are clearly not talking about Kubuntu, this is not within the scope of the "One Hundred Paper Cuts" project.

Well, I found another application that does behaves similarly: Open Office, which is a part of distribution.

How to repro?
* run 2 gnome-terminals in full-screen mode
* in 1st:
** $ cp /usr/share/example-content/Payment_schedule.ods /tmp/1.ods
** $ oocalc /usr/share/example-content/Payment_schedule.ods
--- it opens first window of spread sheets. it's visible, as expected.
* Alt-Tab to 2nd terminal window and type:
** $ oocalc /tmp/1.ods
--- it opens new window of spread sheets, but it's not visible (on the bottom of windows focus list)

I can confirm this for your OpenOffice.org example in compiz (Desktop Effects) but not for metacity (without Desktop Effects).

I'm marking this as Invalid because it is no papercut. A papercut deals with bugs present in applications that are part of the default user experience and that are bothering users during regular tasks. As opening applications from the terminal is not something many regular users do this is not a valid papercut.

Sorry, but as you say you don't have a capacity to look at all bugs, so do
I - I don't have a capacity to upgrade my system to the latest version,
because I want stability.
I think it's much easier for you to open an OOO app on your test machines
with old and new ubuntus on them and verify if bug is on the old, but no
anymore on the new,... than for me to find a free machine, install ububtu
on it just to do the same.
Sorry for that, I can't provide you more data than that, but I wish ubuntu
to be better.

srgb, 9.04 is no longer a supported version of ubuntu. As such, bug reports are not supported for dated versions.

If you are unwilling to verify on supported versions, this will be invalidated.
