I also have this problem with K3b. Both K3b and Brasero work properly when run as root. I am running Kubuntu 9.10 installed from Alpha 2.

This only appears to be a problem on my desktop. On my laptop, K3b and Brasero both find the drive just fine. The laptop is Ubuntu with kubuntu-desktop installed, and the desktop is pure Kubuntu. I think the laptop started at 9.10 alpha 2, but it may have been alpha 1.

Thanks for your report, could you run brasero from the command line as: brasero --brasero-media-debug --debug &> brasero-debug.txt perform the operation to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the report?. Thanks in advance

Changed in brasero (Ubuntu):
assignee: nobody → Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs)
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Used:
brasero --brasero-media-debug &> brasero-debug.txt

as the command with --debug just segfaults here!

Did the same but with sudo! Doesn't show devices neither, but no more permission errors!

I can confirm this problem, and also that the debug option causes a Segmentation Fault.
Let me know if you need anything else. I'm posting my info here instead of creating a new bug report.

Using Karmic Alpha 3
