Bug Description

Version 0.4.0 of the xfce4-battery-plugin

Watching the number presented under the percentage charged (which I assume to be hh:mm:ss estimated battery time left) gives strange results when plugged into AC. For instance, sitting here watching whilst writing this bug report I have observed the following displays all of which occurred with apparently 100% battery charge:

322:22
357:48
03:51
03:56
327:14
50:52
00:00

and so on and so forth.

Where does this applet obtain its raw data? I've poked around /proc/acpi and everything seems pretty normal.

Cheers,
Craig

How to reproduce this bug:

Power up laptop PC, make sure 100% battery charge. Then pull the plug, wait until 99% charge or less, plug back into AC and wait a few seconds. Time remaining display will show crazy numbers as above.

Even when the battery again reaches 100% the funny numbers continue.

All this on a Dell 8200, I'll report happenings on another Dell (newer) I will have access to in the next couple of days.

Craig

Took me a while to get back to this - sorry.

I've got a Dell 1100 here with an Intel 845 chipset, seems to not display this bug. So, this is somewhat strange.

Dell 8200 with 845 chip gives funny output (as above) when you pull AC power, wait a few ticks, then put AC back onto laptop.

If you start the the laptop with the AC power inserted you don't get the problem.

Interestingly I get a really similar problem only on this Dell 8200 with the kde battery monitor too, but not with the gnome one. I might have to dig around the source code on this one as there must be something significant thats different between the gnome and xfce/kde code.

Cheers,
Craig
