Bug Description

This is more of a feature request.

As Ubuntu One is aimed at Ubuntu users. It would be nice to have a one click backup facility to backup key system configuration files like xorg.conf, apt-get sources.lst, Firefox bookmarks etc. on a Ubuntu One special folder.

This would be a nice feature when people are about to do a dist-upgrade. In case of issues, they can use UbuntuOne to retrieve their backed up configuration files.

a dpkg -l package list would be also a good thing to bring the system back into a state. Also the whole . config dirs in the home directory. All this uses few space and is very helpful.
So Push ;)

Just a small update... what seems to be a good solution is to associate the machine with the configuration:

So every machine has its selections stored in the hidden Ubuntu directory .ubuntuone. There is a folder selections which contains the selections for a given machine (dpkg --get-selections >> .ubuntuone/selections/$MACHINENAME).

So after a fresh installation and a sign in I could select (additionally) the machine and then the packages will be installed.

Shouldn't this bug be closed? Oneconf will be installed by default in Natty and it provides installed package syncing ( the package description doesn't mention application's settings syncing, so I guess it's for later Ubuntu releases).
