Bug Description

I've a fresh install of kubuntu 9.04 and now I'm trying to install python-qwt4 version 4.2.3dfsg-2.

Aptitude then reports:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
        python-qwt4: Depends: python (< 2.6) but 2.6.2-0ubuntu1 is installed.

python2.6 is needed through libpython for the update-manager-kde, so downgrading to python2.5 is not really attractive. What is needed to make python-qwt4 (and its python-qwt? nephews) work with python2.6?

affects: ubuntu → pyqwt (Ubuntu)

Same problem in Ubuntu 9.10.

For example: cannot install pythonxy-base anymore.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
pythonxy-base: Depends: python-qwt4 but it is not installable
Depends: python-qwt4-doc but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
