Bug Description

libitext-java 2.1.5-1ubuntu2 depends on default-jre, therefore depends on openjdk-6. This is wrong in case if the user uses sun, gij or one of plenty other jvm implementations.

libitext-java has an alternate dependency on java2-runtime. This dependency is satisfied by every other JRE in repositories.

Your statement is probably correct, but in fact it doesn't work. Please make sure that [libitext-java + sun-java6-*] bundle works (I mean you have to have ONLY sun-java6-* in the system).

I have got sun-java6-* packages installed but when i try to install libitext-java it marks gcj-4.4 with its dependencies to install.

$ sudo update-alternatives --config java
There is only one alternative in link group java: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java
Nothing to configure.

sun-java6 is not in lucid anymore. If you installed it from outside Ubuntu (like the official Java site), you may consider forcing to install without the dependencies.

I think this is because of bug #411588.
