Here is the problem:

Setting up samba-common (2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3.4) ...
Merging changes into the new version
Conflicts found! Please edit `/etc/samba/smb.conf' and sort them out manually.
The file `/etc/samba/smb.conf.ucf-new' has a record of the failed merge of the
configuration file.
dpkg: error processing samba-common (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 3

I reassign to ucf, IMO it should not fail like this but instead offer the user to fix the problem in a different way without breaking in the maintainer script.

affects: update-manager (Ubuntu) → ucf (Ubuntu)
Changed in ucf (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

I'm new at this.
would I be safe to enter " Sudo apt-get install Samba" in the command line?
Thanks.
