Bug Description
I think there are a lot of potential ways for how to do this
1) Show ignored files in a slighly 'grey' font/alpha channel
2) Use icon overlays to make it clear the status of various files (up-to-date, modified, conflict, etc are the common ones)
3) Have a toggle to not show ignored files at all
Note that this is different from unknown files, which are likely to want to be added.

NetBeans simply uses colours instead of overlays to show file statuses:
Blue: modified
Green: new/added
Grey: ignored
It does however puts a small overlay on folders containing modified/ new/deleted items.
