are you sure your *upload* speed is 20Mbps? If you go to speedtest.net
and test against a location in the East of the USA, what upload speed
does it report?

Thanks,

Mine took hours to upload 41 megs. I confirmed there was plenty of bandwidth available during this time.

I am in France and using ubuntuone-client version 1.1+r278-0ubuntu1~ppa1~jaunty. I can attest that sync speeds appear to be very very slow. It spent all day yesterday (8+ hours) syncing ~300-400 MB and it still is working today. I am at work with a good internet connection, so I am fairly certain bandwidth is not a problem (downloading or uploading the equivalent directly without UbuntuOne would take less than an hour).

Hello, and thank you for using Ubuntu One. I'm sorry it's not working
as well as you expect.

We are aware of some speed issues, especially related to large amounts
of small files (we delay a few of seconds per file). Can you tell
us how many files are you trying to sync?

Thanks,

I do have a lot of files: 10304. My zotero directory has many very small files, so that could be the issue. Is the delay between files configurable?

I subscribe to this. I have a folder with around 250 files for a total of 600KB. It took an hour to upload 100KB..

This bug is not fixed, I just tested Ubuntu 10.04, updated all packages, and still the ubuntu one sync process syncs very slowly.

Sometimes it delays 30 seconds/file. I am trying to upload 136MB, 6049 files. It is uploading since 3 hours, and all it uploaded are the filenames (not all of them either).

I looked at its log ~.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log, here's a sample:

If creating new filenames is this slow, then you should batch upload the filenames.
Or even better, use a tried and tested technology like rsync, or FTP, instead of reinventing the wheel, and creating an upload sync that is slower than all other technologies that currently exist!

I'm still uploading at under 1kb/s for Ubuntu One, I'm giving up on it and trying dropbox or spideroak....this has been a problem for me since day one of Ubuntu One's release. Thanks for the hard work, hopefully it gets resolved by 10.10

Same here on Lucid RC.
It tooks 20mins. for 20bytes with a possible upload of 400kb/s.
With this speed, it is absolutely unusable, sorry.
