Expose Mailman's "max_days_to_hold" option for mailing lists

Mailman on lists.ubuntu.com has a setting called "max_days_to_hold" which is described as "Discard held messages older than this number of days. Use 0 for no automatic discarding."

This option aids in management of lists that receive a large amount of spam. Enabling it on launchpad mailing lists would be beneficial for list administrators.

Barry, is this viable with our integration? Since the long-term goal is to move all Ubuntu lists into launchpad, we may want the exact rules in Launchpad.

This would be pretty easy to do, especially if we did not want to give a configurability knob to team owners. It would probably be a one or two line change in the code, plus a script to backpatch existing lists.

What would be a reasonable default for discarding old messages? 14 days perhaps?
