kwin intermittently fails to give focus to dialog box

Binary package hint: kde-window-manager

To produce bug:
1. Ensure that compositing is turned on.
2. In an application, click to open a dialog box
3. before dialog box opens, click in main application.

Result: kwin does not give focus to the dialog but restricts it to the main application window

Expected: that Alt-tab to scroll through windows will yield focus to the dialog box

Work-around: temporarily disable compositing.

This is a common enough user error that the current behaviour is annoying.

I just tried to reproduce this using firefox with both the open dialog (ctrl+o) and the print dialog (ctrl+p) since they both open a bit slow for me. However when they opened, they came to the front as expected and didn't go behind the main window. I am fairly certain I have experienced this issue with previous releases, however with Karmic and KDE 4.3.1 I am unable to do so. Are you able to reproduce it using a newer version of KDE at all? If so, can you please list your system specifications? Thanks!
