Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

Downloaded brasero latest version for Ubuntu 9.04. I had tried using Nautilus CD burner and got the same message. In "Places" CD is shown as CD-RW. When it was a Windows machine, it wrote CDs with no problems. I got the same message as 395922 but I was trying to write a data disc. I have tried both sizes of discs, 24-R and 700 mb.

Update: 7/7/2009. Noted that etc/fstab does not contain "rw" as part of the comma delimited field. This may imply that cdrom0 is read-only. Device is defined as /dev/scd1 and has UUID field:

UUID=461f1162-fbf1-4a0b-9499-f0e5816981c8 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/scd1 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0

Thanks for your report, could you run brasero from the command line as: brasero --brasero-media-debug --debug &> brasero-debug.txt perform the operation to reproduce the bug and attach the resulting file to the report?. Thanks in advance

I am replying to you directly as the file is fairly large for an
Update. Please note that the DVD is NOT RW. Apparently HAL found it as
a RW type. It is not defined in fstab. The CD-RW is defined in fstab
as /dev/scd1 WITHOUT "rw" in the options. Looks like HAL is confused.
Enjoy.

Reinstalled CD/DVDCreator which removed brasero. CD Creator worked by using proper sequence of operations. Consider bug "solved" as it had the same symptoms so was probably operator sequence error. jwh
