firefox close affects all open browsers

Release Version: Ubuntu "Hardy Heron" 8.04.2

Firefox Version: Firefox 3.0.11+build2+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1

Open several separate instances of the browser either on same desktop screen or across multiple screens , then go to

File --> Quit

All instances of the browser closes not just the one you are opting to close.

All other browsers should remain open until each one is closed individually.

This does not happen if you close using the corner X, as only the one you closes is affected.

Hello Micha,

It happens when I have multiple instances of Firefox running.

For example, on my first workspace I may have firefox open with several tabs just generally browsing, on the second workspace, I will have Firefox open whilst editing a webpage, and again, on a third workspace I will have another copy of Firefox running doing something else.

The problem arises when I close say the third or first browser using the Quit method, the other two browsers also close without even touching them.
